May 2026

Hello from all of us at Catawba Heights Animal Hospital!

As we head into warmer weather and the busy summer season, we wanted to send out a few important reminders and updates to help keep your pets healthy, protected, and prepared for the months ahead.

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR CONTACT INFORMATION IS CURRENT 🐾

We communicate with many of our clients primarily through email and text messaging for:

  • Appointment reminders
  • Vaccine reminders
  • Bloodwork and diagnostic results
  • Prescription updates
  • Important hospital announcements

If you have changed your email address or cell phone number recently, please let our team know so we can make sure you continue receiving important updates regarding your pet’s care.

HEARTWORM, FLEA & TICK SEASON IS HERE 🐾

Mosquitoes, fleas, and ticks are already very active in our area, and we are seeing an increase in tick-borne diseases — especially Lyme disease.

We are now strongly recommending Lyme vaccination for ALL dogs regardless of lifestyle, as we are diagnosing significantly more Lyme disease cases in our area than in previous years. Even pets that spend limited time outdoors can still be exposed through yards, parks, sidewalks, and wooded areas.

Year-round flea, tick, and heartworm prevention remains one of the most important things you can do to protect your pet.

STACKABLE SAVINGS THROUGH JUNE 30, 2026 🐾

A prescription chewable is currently offering stackable manufacturer savings on heartworm and flea/tick prevention when purchasing 6-month or 12-month supplies. This is a great opportunity to stock up and save while keeping your pets protected year-round.

Please note:

  • Pets must have a current negative heartworm test on file
  • Pets must have had a physical exam within the past year
  • Promotion valid through June 30, 2026

If you have questions about which prevention products are best for your pet, our team is happy to help.

SUMMER BOARDING REMINDER 🐾

Summer boarding reservations are already filling quickly. If you are planning vacations or weekend trips, we strongly recommend scheduling boarding early to help guarantee availability.

Please remember that boarding pets must be current on required vaccines and preventative care before their stay.

HURRICANE & STORM SEASON PREPAREDNESS 🐾

As we enter storm season, now is a good time to prepare an emergency plan for your pets. We recommend:

  • Keeping medications refilled
  • Maintaining several weeks of food and supplies
  • Ensuring ID tags and microchip information are current
  • Having vaccination records easily accessible
  • Preparing crates/carriers in case evacuation becomes necessary

Planning ahead can make stressful situations much safer for both pets and families.

Thank you for trusting us with your pet’s care. We truly appreciate the opportunity to care for your furry family members and look forward to seeing you this summer!
